Questions to ask when picking a defense attorney
Questions to ask when picking a defense attorney
1) Is the defense attorney a former District Attorney?
Does the attorney know what prosecutors consider important? Does the attorney know how the system works from the inside? Here at Simpson, Foster & Gold, all of our attorneys have been District Attorneys and have experience handling criminal cases.
2) Is the defense attorney a real trial attorney?
Do they know what to do in a courtroom if a case goes to trial? Does the District Attorney know that the lawyer is bluffing if he says, “Let’s set it for trial”? Again, all of our attorneys are real trial attorneys. Not only were they District Attorneys, but they served in Trial Division. Trial Division prosecutors are the ones that try the cases other prosecutors file and prepare. The lawyers at Simpson, Foster & Gold have had experience going head to head with other attorneys in hundreds of trials. They have tried cases ranging from traffic tickets to murder. Current prosecutors know this as well.
3) Does the attorney care about my case?
We understand that if you are facing criminal charges, that can be the most important thing in your life. Having the best lawyer in town doesn’t help you if that attorney has another case on their mind. This is why Simpson, Foster & Gold gives you a team of former district attorneys that are all real trial attorneys. This allows your lawyer to focus on your case. When your life, future or criminal record is on the line, your attorney needs to be focused on you. We understand that and would not expect you to settle for anything less than the best attorneys doing their best.
